Branding & Brand Consciousness: Racing to Save the Planet

Established Brands are mostly responsible.

Big well know brands are often questioned about the quality of products, where the raw materials are sourced from and if they are child-safe, chemical-free, fair trade. What they stand for as an organization, how happy their employees are, how they give back to society, where/how their profits are invested, what are their sister concerns/companies/organizations and how they take responsibility to save the planet etc.

As consumers we are ‘Brand Conscious’. We are aware about where we invest/spend our money. Who makes the profit and how it’s spent.

I asked my nephew Viraj one day, “Do you know what the ‘Messi’ on the t-shirt means?”. I asked him whether he knew the brand/person he was supporting.

I wondered on my return to the city – felt quite proud of what was being created in Delhi NCR. The AAP political party. But wondered about the choice of the broom as the symbol of the party (perhaps the election commissioners office selects a symbol?!) They could have used something more hi-tech like an automated robot that cleans. 😀 And the current chief minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal, who is the leader of the AAP. On hearing him on the radio for the first time. I wished for him to get some good voice modulation lessons. A man representing this political brand AAP.

On an individual level we are brands unto ourselves. Making an effort to be qualitative humans individually and then collectively.

Each of us is born enlightened. Some of us become aware of our own enlightenment through spiritual/religious practice. There are spiritual/religious brands in this world like the Dalai Lama,  the Pope.

Being conscious of the collective and how brands are changing the world, setting trends with release/updates of new products.

There are some famous brand wars such as Pepsi and Coca-Cola, Apple and Samsung.

Sometimes companies copyright colours like the coke red. And sometimes they are able to gain popularity by the subconscious minds of humans. Ask anyone A for___. The answer is always Apple.(It’s time to teach children A for A, B for B, C for C etc.)

Hope brands such as the Micheline stars, Oscars and Olympics are on the cards for India.

We are winning the race to save the planet through brand consciousness.

Mixing the two as one person

Snowfall – artistic & scientific

Glazed Stoneware Ceramic Bowl Set. Talc Deposits pooling together = Glaze not melted completely for some Or Snowfall near Christmas for some.

Sometimes we get so technical/scientific, that even our eyes betray us. Only ‘new eyes’ can see beauty/design.

Sometimes we get so caught-up in the aesthetics, that we get blocked and stay stuck without experimenting and breaking boundaries.

Have we as humans developed to a point/time of balancing these aspects of the scientific & the artistic?

Big Bang Theory is passé. My all time favorite cartoon movie is not Tangled. It’s Shrek – part 1.

Cheers ! For this merry season. Snowfall !!

Talking Brand Consciousness – ‘Do you Pot?’

Brand Identity/Awareness/Consciousness. Talking Economic-Social-Political-Response-Ability. Though I had studied branding during my Design Education; I never at that point imagined, that Brands get created this way. So. I represent myself as an artist – Through my artwork and then also through … Continue reading

What/Who is an Artist

My Father
Asked me today

Why do you define your
Brand Identity
Brand Awareness
Brand Consciousness
As – Artist . Potter . Writer

Well, What to do
I responded
Hopefully today is the day
When just the word Artist

Will convey

The Way of the Artist

The Way of the Artist – drinking and sharing the divine!

On the Path of Meditation/Awareness/Technicality the technique and skill level is important. You will need to be very focused on artistic technicalities. Become skillful at the chosen medium of art. Perfection will become your goal.

A student of the art of Pottery will be asked to make and break all pots till a day comes when the teacher sees perfection. Only then do they allow the student to fire the pot. It’s like their graduation ceremony. Like saying yes you’ve picked up the techniques. You are skilled in the art of pottery. This is the method of Practice. Every day you might dedicate an hour or 5 to your art form. Therefore the correct teacher is necessary on this path. To guide and be aware of when the student’s work has transformed. And the student has become an Artist.

On the Path of Love/Surrender/Totality the medium of art is used more playfully. Just whatever comes you create. No need to think about wrong or right. The process of art is based on a non-judgmental attitude with full acceptance of whatever is getting created. This is where we say all of us are born Artists. Playful like children. Painting, singing or dancing with no judgments.

The artist comes to a place, where everything created looks divine. The eyes and how they look have transformed. The being has transformed.
As the journey culminates, on either of the paths, you may find yourself criss crossing these paths once or even a couple of times before you realize they are the same.

So from this point on, everything starts getting created on its own. Like a happening. And that’s when the creator and creation become one.

This way
The Way of the Artist
Is a beauty-full and playful way to drink and share the Divine!

The Hassid mystic, Zusia, was dying, and he started praying.

Tears were flowing down from his eyes and he was trembling.

And somebody asked ‘What is the matter? Why are you trembling?’

He was saying ‘I am trembling for a certain reason. This is my last moment, I am dying. Soon I will be facing my God, and I am certain he is not going to ask me “Zusia, why were you not a Moses?

If he asks I will say “Lord, because you didn’t give me the qualities of a Moses!”; there will be no problem. He will not ask me “Why were you not the Rabbi Akiba?” I will tell him “Sir, you never gave me the qualities of being an Akiba, that’s why.”

But I am trembling because if he asks “Zusia, why were you not a Zusia” then I will have nothing to answer, then I will have to look down in shame. That’s why I am trembling and these tears are flowing.

My whole life I tried to become Moses or Akiba or somebody else, and I completely forgot that he wanted me to be just Zusia and nobody else. Now I am trembling, now I am afraid. If he asks this question, what am I going to answer?

How will I be able to raise my eyes when he says “Why were you not Zusia? You were given all the qualities of being a Zusia, how did you miss?”

Centering:The Pot and the Potter 2014

1 2 3 4 7 8 10 11 12 18 21 22 23 24 25 26 27

Centering for me is here and now.
It’s an expression of Wahoo….
A feeling of completeness inside,
when nothing can blow you outside,
Everything seems so pleasant
it’s when you are not future, past
But just the present.

The Touch of Clay
Till we become a Buddha
& take a beautiful form
out of our clay
the existence will wedge us on
the times wheel
passing through the circles of
births & deaths since eternity.
The potter will explore his creativity

A Potter’s Dynamic
The chaotic breath wobbles,
as the soil wobbles on the wheel at first.
Second step goes catharsis
when the potter wedges clay
to make air outburst.
Third goes the pulling up of both
Hu Hu Hu…
Everything stops to watch
whether the clay body is centered or not…
The 5th
goes dancing when the pot
is ready to take off…

Living the Creative Life

I am an Artist
This is my process
The Creative Life

I was not expecting them
And they do not surprise me –
These mysteries
Beyond the plan

But they do overwhelm me
With these tears of joy
And then
This gratitude
About the presence
Of the Master
